I didn't know if you had seen the comment I left on the other post about reserving rooms, so here it is below again. One thing is for sure, and that is that we need to get at the same place, and time is running out to do that.
I guess some of you might have found out already, but there are no rooms left at the Radisson on site and the Gaylord Opry is $167 a night. There are other options from the site, though.
Amerisuites is a 1/2 mile away and provides free shuttle (airport and Opry), free wireless WWW, and breakfast at $109 a night, but it is out of double/double rooms. It does have rooms with a king bed and a sofa that folds out.
The Guesthouse Intl. Inn & Suites is about a 1/4 mile away with free shuttle for airport and Opry, free WWW, with free breakfast for $90 a night and currently has all room styles available. It was remodeled in 2005. At 1/4 mile away it is walkable if the shuttle is busy.
Any idea what everyone wants to do? I figured we wanted to end up at the same hotel so we could shuttle together, so we need to make our reservations about the same time. I'm flexible. If that is still too high there are cheaper per night options, but they do not provide shuttles. We would have to rent a van at about $80 a day (or pay a lot of taxis).
We talked about this at Continuity and I thought everyone had seen your message. I think the Amerisuite sounds like a good deal.I for one could use the 1/2 mile walk a day (unless it is in traffic! >) )
But the remodeled rooms and free internet sound like a good deal.
We don't know if Jill is going bc of a conflict she has. She will let us know on Tuesday. If she doesn't go, we'll invite someone else to go. If they don't go, we can use her money to help with food or hotel. We'll have to take her $600 and divide it by 6 and then it comes out to $100 a person. That will help a little on the hotel or could be used for food. Whatever we decide to use it for (and food might make more sense) we need to all do the same thing to make it easier for our secretary who will process travel.
SCOTT, I tried to fax all your paperwork today and couldn't get it to go through. I'm going to try to fax from home tonight. Is there any chance your school fax is not on?
You will have to fill out two complete sets of forms--one for Tech Liason and one for travel. I sent you a blank form with little markers where you sign. However, you can't send me that form back. You have to download the forms and I gave you the address and then mail those back to me like 2nd day mail if you can.
BTW, I hope your son is feeling better and you are getting some rest tonight!
Scott, I just posted your fax from home and I got a message it was sent and received. Let me know for any reason if you did not get it. It is marked CONFIDENTIAL.
Will do (on the paperwork). Thanks. I was going in to the school before church in the morning anyway, so I will look then and get it right back to you.
Either hotel is fine with me as well. I have stayed at Amerisuites before with no problems. The other one is listed as closer which might be nicer if we are walking in the evening, though. I don't mind the walk with either one. That is what I usually do when I am in Austin.
Ok, let's see if everyone can go to the Guest House then. Everyone will have to find their own roommate if they want one and then I believe you hve to go to the NCTE pge to maek the arrangements.
Scott, are you going to post the address for bloglines for us with an explanation of what it does?
I wonder if you need your own "room" in the schoolhouse==to house addresses, resource pages, etc, and then you could still make announcemets on the main blog? What do you think?
I will do a bloglines post. Later I will do a short video tutorial. I am not sure about needing my own place in the village. Maybe there can be a Tune-up Shop or something like that to archive and view the tutorials?
