WebEx

Hello all, I posted this idea on the main blog, but also wanted to post it here for the leadership group.

CDE contracts with WebEx, the online meeting system that is used quite widely nationally. It could certainly be available for BWP meetings or leadership meetings. If you have not used it before, it is ideal for sharing/group discussion of items such as PowerPoints or Word docs, software demos, or shared Web work. Participants connect via the net, and can use either VoIP (free) or telephone conference calling ($.20/minute/participant)--audio is a detail we can work out later.

If what is desired is really more of a conference call type of experience, Skypecasting is probably an easier/cheaper way to go. Either way, Scott M. and I stand ready to help!

Also, on mentoring: either of these two technologies might play a role. We also might want to envision a clearinghouse for video-tele-mentoring using desktop video chat?

NCTE hotel reservations made!

I thought I would start a post so each of us can add a comment when our reservations were made at the Guesthouse through the NCTE website. That way we all know everyone is set room-wise.

Preparing 07-08 Renewal Grant

HI Leaders,

In preparation for our 07-08 renewal grant, would you do the following:

Respond to this:

What is your leader title?
Your role and areas ofresponsibilities?
Goal(s)for 06-06 and for 07-08
Objectives for 06-06 and for 07-08
Action for 06-06 and for 07-08
Anticipated budget needs for your part of leadership for 07-08
ANticipated travel monies needed.

Remember in reality, we have very little money to spend--most of our money goes back to UTA in the form of scholarships for participants. NWP wants us to develop our site by conducting Staff Development and taking a % of that for arranging it; offering Young Author's Camps, Open Institutes, Advanced Institutes, and

BTW, Katherine your leadership title will be Leader of Development: Grants and Contracts. I see other leaders actually working with you on your committee as well as other BWPs. For example, PD, Continuity, Recruiting, etc.

Actions for Jeannine to get done for you:

As soon as I locate our Jll resends her paper, I'll share with you and that will help us a lot see what we wrote that we said we were going to do in 06-07.

For your area of leadership, you'll respond to what we said we were going to do, with what we did, and then write a section for your leadership area, about what we plan to do.

You will also need a copy of last year's grant so I can get this out to you via e-mail.

You might also enjoy reading NWP's response to our grant and that I will have to fax you or mail you via hard copy.

I think we need your responses by our OCT meeting, and feel free to post them out on this blog to get feedback.
